Ok before I commit I want to ask what other SUA guys have done for steering? The current plan is 4.89 front 4.90 rear. Spring under with stock waggy springs, h223b in the rear.

I'm going with 1 ton steering right from the beginning.
I'm using lifetime warranty Tie rod ends with 1.375" DOM tubing w/ .375" wall thickness.
My fabricator will be drilling and tapping the DOM tubing for the 7/8"-18 thread.

I figured it's better to overkill the crap out of it than replace it when you break it.

You can get a 1 ton steering kit usually for around $220-$280 from Completeoffroad or other shops.

Since you are going SUA you can run pretty much any steering style setup.
The pictures are from ballistic fabrication. That's what I'm running.

Y-link steering

And crossover/full highsteer.

The Y-link will work on your stock waggy axle. The crossover/full highsteer need to have either one highsteer arm or two. If you go crossover/highsteer you need to get some chevy flat top knuckles, and have them machined to work with the highsteer arms.

I'm also running the Y type from Ballistic. In two+ years its working very well.

I'm running the Y, Barry built it for me. My axle is pretty far forward and I didn't move the steering box so I have some bumpsteer but no complaints otherwise

Is this the correct Y-link kit?

Yup. I have the Ballistic crossover steering, and it is really beefy.

Any thing else I need to get when I order it?

Can anyone hook me up with photos of their setup?

Another for Ballistic... that kit is just beefy as hell and come will all the parts. You may just have to ream out your knuckles and pitman arm. other than that.... your golden.

I freakin hate Ballistic, but that kit is the best one going. Saves you from having to piece it all together yourself.

I wouldn't have them cut/weld it though.

Ballistic steering is nice but $50 for shipping is OBSCENE!!

Complete offroad sells the exact same kit only $10 cheap, plus a $10 handling fee and FREE SHIPPING!

Oops my steering I bought from Complete not Ballistic... I got a bunch of brackets & joints from ballistic.

That kit is nice too, but with the Ballistic kit you get two 58" pieces of DOM, and with the Complete kit you get a 3', and a 4' section so you get spare tubing for another project. So the price kind of evens out.

I pieced together my kit from complete offroad. Y style steering. only issue is bump steer which is pretty common though. I plan on fabbing up a track bar to rid the bump steer since I'm turning it into my daily driver and remove the track bar when I hit the trails....if i ever do.
