I just got to thinking....
How long have the Calmini gears been available? Several years? There's an older Pathfinder at the junkyard that has lots of other nice parts on it, and I completely forgot about gears until now. I think it's been there a year or two at least, though. Unfortunatly there isn't any way to tell if it has them, either...

I think about 4 years from Calmini... 4x4parts.com for a few months.

I need to find some way to figure out if it's got them. Would it work to count the rotations?

If the t-case is out, then you could count the rotations in 4 low. The input shaft would turn approximately 4 times for every 1 of the output (either the front output or the rear).
Otherwise, it'd be a tear down and looking at the size of the gears at the front of the t-case.

Thanks for the info Allen. :) I know the engine is gone, but I think the t-case is still attached to the tranny. Could I still do this with the tranny attached? It will seem like a waste of a day taking the whole thing out only to find out it's got the same gears I already have.
I do have a good feeling about it though since it had front and rear ARB lockers, no roof, and a full cage.

that is one hell of a find at a junkyard. So do you now have the ARBs?

Yep, I've got both of them sitting in my garage. It has the 31 H233 locker so I have to swap out the side gears for 33 splines. I was hoping someone could use the cage. :D
By the way, if any WD21 owners are looking for lift parts, I know it had new rear springs (bright red), aftermarket control arms, and what looked like upgraded steering.

pull the cage for me and I'll forgive you for swiping my headers. pull the steering too, someone will need it.
the ARB replaces the side gears, the whole carrier in fact, so you need some 31 spline shafts. not sure if the ones in it are the same width as your axle.

Jamie...I aplogize for taking your headers. :D I got the things yesterday and they're awesome. Really were brand new...for $55.
I was thinking about pulling the parts since I figured someone could use them but I haven't found enough spare time yet. I considered swapping in 31 spline shafts (there's a few models that fit) but it seems more worthwhile to just convert the ARB. I already contacted ARB about it and I just need to swap out the side gears, which will cost me $200. Still a ton cheaper in the end.
Come up here someday and we'll pull the cage for you and check out the T-case for me. Looked pretty sturdy.
Here's a camera phone picture of the Pathfinder this came off of:

WOW! Check out that cage... you could practice parallel bars when the caravan stops! hehe

Are you planning on keeping your roof? I would imagine the cage could be modified to fit with a roof, but it's waay too tall for one the way it sits. If you don't have a problem hacking it off, come on up.

well, I was planning on cutting the roof, just not till I got a 2 door. I'm sure I could make it fit if i tried.

Just let me know if you want some help over there some day. The whole thing is welded so it may take awhile. Also, I hope you have a larger vehicle for transporting it home. :D
