Allen installed a rear air locker for me, but I need to run the air lines & mount the compressor.
On the air lines, how do most run them? Follow the brake lines & stay away from the exhaust?
Also can somebody post some pictures of how they mounted the compressor in the engine bay? I am also just considering mounting it where the stock jack goes.
Thanks.

I ran my air line following the break line. I zip tied it to the line so the stainless line has the break before the air line will.

Oh and my compessor is not mounted in the engine bay so I can't help you there.

The line is long enough to go ahead of the engine to keep it well away from the exhaust. Zip ties are your friend and zip tie it every 6-9 inches.... the more the better. If that line vibrates or shakes it will begin to wear through in spots. And After I got down to the frame I just followed the brake line with TONS of zip ties.
The pump I mounted on the passenger side of the engine bay. Had to relocate the Cruise control module to free up space on the side of the bay. I bolted through the inside of the wall and used locktite on the nuts inside the fender.
Watch the tension on the Cruise control cable... after I did mine the Idle was high and Allen readjusted it for me.
Keep your spare air hose for repairs if needed. You will need an ARB repair kit or go to Fastenal and pick up a pack of 5mm self attaching hose splicers.

Kevin, can you post some pictures of the pump & cruise control?

I'm in the same boat. I have the el-cheepo ARB kit ($140). I haven't even look at it but might attempt to mount it next weekend.

Eric,
I will try to take a couple pictures later today when I get back home.
I fabricated a platform on the RH front wheelwell to give the compressor a flat spot to mount. I had to remove something, but can't remember what it was. I looked for old pictures on XOC, but couldn't find them.

Can someone with a welder help me weld up a bracket?
I have some steel plate & a design in mind that will use the cruise control bracket, but keep the CC in the stock location.
I learned how to weld at college, but its been 8+ years since I have tried welding.

Are you in/near Denver? If so, you can bring it over to my place during the evening this week to weld up a bracket. I live near the old Lakeside amusement park (I-70 & Sheridan) on the northwest side of town. PM me for directions/phone if you're interested.

Very cool, Eric. Who did the welding? What kind of welder was it?

I did the welding, with my nifty new Millermatic 210, which rules for welding heavy steel, but I'm still working on my touch with lighter/thinner stuff.
The original bracket mounted the cruise control at an angle which I guess is meant to relieve strain on the cable, it's kind like this shape: /_ and we drilled out the spot welds holding it together and reattached it straight, like this: |_ and that left room to put on the new stud-hanger type brackets Eric bought for the compressor. Changing the angle of the cruise control cable didn't seem to hurt anything at all.

OMG!
That is so cool! I have always wanted a welder like that. I have 220V in my garage when the day comes!

Nice job, too. You can really tell the difference that a MIG makes over a stick....

Can someone look in a service manual and tell me the color codes for the wires running from the dimmer switch in a 02 Xterra?
Thank You.

Are you looking for a switched power supply?
If so get a wire tester/pick. Ground it out then stab a wire to see what is hot when the lights are on.

I know what ones are switched. It say to hook another wire to the dimmer output. The switches are next to the dimmer. I like to drive at night with the dimmer turned down low so I am not blinded by all the dash lights.
Is the ARB light always on?

Finally done!!!
Does anyone see anything wrong with the way I ran the line?

I ran the leak test while I was cleaning the garage. The compressor didn't recharge in those 30+ minutes, so I guess no leaks.
