Are you talking about something like this?

I did a google search of 'Split CV Boot' and that's how I found the one in the link I posted earlier. I tried finding something in a search for 'split inner cv boot', but haven't seen anything specific to pathfinders. I did see a couple things for GM/GMC. If all else fales, try emailing the seller on the ebay auction and ask him/her if they would know.

Yeah the ones for the GM's are the ones my dad was mentioning, he said they may work on my truck

Don't get the "split" type, they will leak and tear within a few miles. Go to O-reily auto parts and ask for a "solid" cv boot. They cost around 25 bux. You have to pull the shaft out and pull it apart in order to install it.

for 25 a boot, i would just replace the whole shaft with a reman one for $80 at napa. takes less time than replacing the boots, not that much more $$, and it's basically new.

Yeah I was thinking maybe new cv's, just gotta wait till payday. Y'all think my torn boots can hold up till the 30th and I can get stuff together to begin the replacement process.

Will these work on an 87?

nope, those are the higher spline count version for the later trucks. check napa or checker, they list them online for about $60 for a reman (plus 110 or so for a core) and 120 or so for a new one (no core charge).

Ok I'll give it a look. How long can I go without replacing the boots, I'll be scarce on funds within the next few weeks.

You will be fine for a while, but if you get dirt/mud, etc. in there it will ruin em good. You can always check and see if they are dirty and try to clean and put some more grease in. You should be fine just driving around town.

Ok good to know. Thanks!

yeah they don't spin when you aren't in 4wd so you should be good. i drove for years with torn boots before they started clicking. that's also why i get remans instead of just replacing the boot, usually by the time i do anything about it they're pretty well trashed.

Ooo years, like music to my ears haha even though I don't intend on driving on torn boots that long, it's good to know they'll last if i need 'em to.
