I installed a used ARB in my rear drum brake H233B.

Here is my problem....It's not easy to explain...so feel free to ask questions.

The drum brake axles use some kind of pilot bearing plug in between the two axle shafts to hold the outer bearings out aganst the races. Then the axle end play is set using shims between housing and housing caps.

My problem is that with the used ARB there is about a 1/4 inch of in/out play on the axles and there is not 1/4 inch of shims I can remove.

I think there must be some difference between a Disk Brake ARB and Drum Brake ARB. Can anyone tell me what the difference might be?

Tmorgan, can you tell me what kind of brakes were on the axle the ARB was pulled from?

(FYI: the disk brake axles don't use the pilot plug, they use two outer bearings to hold the axle in place)

Looks like I'm missing the Floating thrust block(s)......

Pickup (D21), Rear 1986 on H233B,31 spline, 6 cyl. 32.0 (1.26") 31 All RD78A3,4

1 Only suitable for differentials with 12mm crown wheel bolts.
2 No application for leaf sprung cab chassis vehicles with 34 spline axle shafts.
3 Refer to dealer or check spline count to determine axle type.
4 Floating thrust block(s) are included but should ONLY be installed on semi-floating axle assemblies. Refer to installatioon guide.

Sorry for my ignorance, but what are you putting it in?

It went in a 92 SE V-6 Hardbody

I would run down to sidewinders and grab the shafts etc out of the (Pathy) disk brake 233b down there. They do not require the thrust block spacer. Then you would also have rear disks. They say it requires a different master cylinder, however I run it without changing anything on a 92 pathy without any probs. The master may still be in that pathy too...
