My buddy wants to start wheeling a little bit on some of the easier trails around FoCo. He has a Jeep Grand Cherokee and before I go with him on the trails I am going to recomend that he buys some form of sliders and that he invests in a way to get a good recovery point in the front and rear of his truck. Since I have only worked on my xterra and my dads wrangler I have no clue about anything that has to do with a Grand Cherokee. So does anyone know anything about zj's or where to get some affordable sliders/recovery points for his rig? Also anything else i should know before he lands on a rock? I should probably say that the jeep is bone stock and its a 2003 I think. Thanks for the help in advance.
P.S. recommending that he buys a nissan is not an option, thanks though:D

tntcustoms.com they are based out of cheyenne. Anything he can do to strengthen the unibody would help. Remember not to pull too hard on any of the xj tow hooks i yanked one out of my buddies last year...

I had a friend with a grand cherokee who was always bitching last year that there's basically nothing you can do to armor it because there's no frame to bolt/weld sliders and skid plates and stuff onto. I don't think a grand cherokee is intended to be wheeled any more than a pathfinder armada is (that is, its capability about ends where the pavement ends).

yes, you can get sliders for ZJ's. yes they are unibody, so stiffening is in order, at some point. if not, over time it will flex a ton, and eventually the doors either won't open, or open on their own. probably not needed right away. ZJ's are decent stock, but they hang out over the ends so you need driver skill to keep the bumpers attached.

Poison Spyder I think has stuff too. TNT also moved down here, I think they're in Aurora now. We've worked with them, and the owner comes in to bullshit sometimes from TNT.
Sliders, most definately. But you end up drilling a lot of holes to get them on. Once on though, they're great! They do a ton for that unibody. Usually, most bumpers offer a decent recovery point. If he has a hitch, leave it on for now, and get a recovery ring reciever for it.

Correction, TNT's production facility is in Aurora, but I guess the main shop is in Cheyene. I'm not sure if you can buy direct from the production facility or not, I'll check on that.

A friend has a '93 Grand Wagoneer, which is basically an older Grand Cherokee. I don't exactly agree with the fact that they aren't meant to go off the pavement, but then again I'm rockin' a unibody myself. Usually ends up like this, though.
