well i decided to to get a high output alternator for the truck since picking up the winch , i will also be upgrading the battery

i looked into the quest mod but ive never seen one at the JY and they are around $220 new plus didnt really feel like doin any kiind of mods to make it fit
looked at 4x4parts and the cheapest one they had was $325 and that was only for 115 amps

went on ebay and found this guy with a really good rating and the alternator has a 1 year warranty

Looks like a mean green alternator.. at least from the pics.

I just bought this one last week when my 80amp one crapped out on me

http://fcpimport.com/products/nissan-alternator-quest-210-4146

It was a direct fit, only thing I needed was a M5 x 1.00 bolt to go in place of the M6 bolt that held the ground wire to the back of the alternator.

There isn't an actual pic of the alt. on that site but the parent company of that, fcpgroton, has been around since the 80's selling bmw, mercedes, etc parts. The order went through monday and was at my door on wednesday

Old

New 125 amp.. 45 more than stock and actually, 85 more than what mine was putting out LOL

Hey guys, I'm actually doing some H/O Alternators for "My Friends" haha. Just until I can get an account with this distributor. Then I will run full production.
So far I've done 10 or so, mostly for Nissans (No-one else deserves them ;-)
The only Modification is a bracket (as seen on the R50 3.3) the Xterra uses the existing Belt tensioner Arm, modified, to give it more adjustment. The stock plug plugs into it and it bolts up to the OEM mounting point. I can do 120-180 amps, and the main reason for me switching to this Alternator specifically, is the fact that the bearings/brush holder/Slip ring are all sealed. Eliminating all the problems with debris ruining the alternator. I've had mine on for 3 years now, and I love water and the WORST clay/chicken Sh*t mud you've ever seen and have never had a problem. As well as the other 10 I've got out there. Non have come back. Let me know if you guys wanna give'em a try. Like I said, I can do "Ones and twos" for now, but I can offer group buys probably just after Christmas :-)

Here's a pic of mine: I'll take some of the Xterra (I think the guys are on here that have them)

I have one of those alternators, and have had no problems to date. Mine was a direct bolt on with only a minor mod to the tensioning bracket on my 00X.

Puts up with this quite regularly with no complaints

I can, but I can't go very high with the V belt. I think the highest I've seen was a 120 but the guy had to buy this NAPA green cog belt

Ill bite, what is the mod you have to do to the mount? How much for a 00 frontier? Why does that one alternator have a worm hole in the middle of it?

And $300 canadian is more like$ 11,000 US.

hahaha Is that what it is now-a-days?! I'm gonna quit my job and just sell alternators. Even at half price is still good for me! $5,500 just for you guys.
Sandor has the worm hole one, just has a label on it with info I would rather wasn't broadcast to world :-)
The Mod to the Xterra mount is just an extension to the existing Belt tensioner arm. I sell the Xterra guys the modified arm with the alternator, but I ask that they ship their old one back to me, otherwise I have to keep buying them in.
The Frontier has the same mount/location as the Xterra, so same deal.

and the pathfinder?

It just bolts straight up to it. Its just the V-belt that limits your amperage. But you can increase it, and you'll have the benefit of it being sealed.

It's 296.75. Seems high for an alt but may be worth it for those doing lots of water and mud. Has anyone upgraded the factory cable when changing to a h/o alternator or is the factory rated high enough to take 120 amps?
