i've seen some stock rear bumpers on ebay....have any of you seen anyone modify a stocker, thicker brackets for the frame...re-inforce mounting points with some 3/16 steel plate so you can have a swing arm....i thought i would try it out...doesn't look too hard to do...and would save tons of $$$$. could also bolt some receiver points on and reinforce from the rear...i might try it out.

I have never seen anyone do that....... yet. Seems like it could be a viable option if everything was braced around the recovery point correctly and the frame mount points.

I have done this. I made 4 plates of 3/16 steel, and sandwatched the bumper with them, then I drilled 4 holes in the bumper and in each plate and attached them to the bumper, I was going to weld the plates on because it did not seem to be sturdy enough, it would flex when the tire and wheel were on and it swung out. but if you worked on it and added more gussets and braceing I think It could work. I am going to improve on my design and give my old bumper to a buddy of mine. I went custom so I have no use for it now.
