85ish jeep wagoneer axle. Drivers side drop non vacuum disconnect. at least thats what you are supposed to use on xterras

"Supposed" to use. A variety can be used, if you wanted to swap the rear as well. If you wanted to use the Calmini kit, then I'd go with the mid-80's Waggy axle then.

Just a question...why do you want to go so big? Your diffs will still be at the same height as before (in fact your front one will be lower) staying with stock tires. You get .5" of clearance per 1" increased tire height, so going from a 31 to a 33 you get one inch of clearance for you diffs. If it's a looks thing I'd go with a PML and a 3" BL. That'll give you 4.5" of lift for fairly cheap as compared to an SAS ($4k-$???).
Personally, I'd wheel the crap outa that thing stock and then move on up if you want to. But, like they say: opinion's are like assholes everyone's got one and they all stink :D

My axle is a high pinion Dana 44 from a mid 70's Ford pickup going onto a custom setup FWIW.

I agree with cheftyler, do a PML first and learn all you can about how to wheel and what you like to wheel on. if you still want more move on up. I spent to mich money on my IFS already but I learned soooo much info that IMHO it was totaly worth it. I am doing a SAS but it is because I have reached the limit of what the IFS can do. and I have found the type of wheeling i like to do. Rocks, and tight trail work. IFS is not the best setup for rocks. it can be done. but I would rather have alittle more movement in the front.

Since you have a 88 Pathy. SUA is a great affordable solution. Only a few inches higher than a 3" UCA lift. But WAY better ride and wheel travel.

swap is around 2-4k, or more, depending how much you can do yourself and how cheap you can find parts.

pml is poor man's lift, uca is upper control arm.
