Hi. How y'all doin'? I am Reserector and I am a newbie.

I drive a 1986.5 HB KC four-banger 5-spd on 33s. I drive it all the time. I drive it everywhere. I eat, sleep and deficate early HBs. If there is a problem that you can have with a Z24 powered HB, I have probably had it and can explain how to fix it. Whatever I DON'T know, ask NissanNut. ;)

I can't wait until I can say this for real! Welcome man, and as always, I really like your truck and what you've done to it and do with it. One of these days mine will be that wheelable and dependable, and I'll say your quote there with a smile on my face!

What's next for the HB?

What's next for the HB? Another trail ride. ;)

j/k Bodywork. It's time to make it look good. Hopefully it will lean toward clever, not stupid. :D
Gonna' recess the Hi-Lift, shovel and snatch block into the inner bed walls before I roll in the bedliner.
Frenched-in radio antenna.
Hood scoop to hide a row of hood-mounted gauges. (Vacuum, Oil Press. and Amps)
More "ornamental iron" out in front and finish wrapping the rear bumper forward, then back to the frame just behind the rear tires. I will be cutting the lower, rear portion of the bed sides to do that.

That should keep me busy through the holiday weekend.

Keep you busy through the holiday weekend? Hell, I'm looking forward to getting to drive mine again this weekend, let alone mod it!

What did you mean, back to the rear frame etc? You're chopping the bottom of the bed there or bobbing the thing?

And what's the idea of recessing the stuff into the bed wall? Aren't they sandwiched together? Or do you mean, under the bed rail?

The rear bumper currently turns forward on each end. I plan to add tube, running it forward toward the rear tire, then turning it inward to attach it to the frame. I will be cutting the lower 5 inches or so off the rear fenders behind the wheels.

The jack and shovel are already (temporarily) mounted under the bed rail.

The bed walls consist of an inner and outer wall. I will make shallow sheet metal boxes to fit the jack, shovel and other junk. I will then cut out the inner bed walls to fit the "boxes", then weld them in.

I was just kidding about doing it all this weekend. I DID, however, just call a trail ride on Monday on mississippi-mud.com :)

Hey, good to see you here, you're one of the folks I most missed talking to when I got booted off NOR.

Rear bumper, huh? I need to see some pics, I'm on the verge of building one for myself, and I need design ideas.

Welcome, have you done any mods to your engine?
If so, what are they?

Coming from you, that is flattering, Hippie.

Here is the rear bumper link: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2218930/14
I designed it with maximum clearance and winch-mounting in mind. I use about one foot of drop on the hitch. The hitch looks totally redneck, but the trade-off for clearance was worth it.
I created a saloon-door license plate holder that is illustrated on that page as well.

The complete unit is less than 45 lbs. and is mainly constructed of low-cost 2" schedule 40 black pipe. It has held up to numerous collisions with the third planet from the sun with nothing more than scratched paint.

The first thing I did to my truck was rebuild the Z24. No internal mods.
Externally, I removed all emissions devices except for the A-B valve. Added a header.
I also did an e-fan swap.
I upgraded the alternator to a high-output GM alt by adapting the lower bracket and changing the pigtail.

Lots of stuff on my CarDomain site: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2218930/1

Nice to see another HB guy around. Makes this site more legit for being Nissan, not just Xterra!

Nice bumper too. I'm thinking something along those lines. Now that I have a friend that may let me use his tubing bender, a lot more options have arisen as to the design aspect of the build.

Welcome to Ronin! :D

Wow, I totally dig that license plate holder design, I'm so gonna rip that off wholesale for my bumper. :) Is that just a regular saloon door hinge like from the hardware store? What a great idea!

Look at it again. It is two el cheapo spring hinges welded together. ;) Also note where the light goes. It is tucked up in there safe and secure. :)

Yeah what is Ronin up to, 6 HBs? Ben, Barry, Reserector, Rwpotter, Ryan, me; is that it?

We should start a gang! :bannana:

Yeah! We could wear our belts backwards. It would symbolically mean "Hind Buckle", which us members would recognize as meaning "HB" for short.

Since I thought of it, I get to be President.

Belts backward? Didn't some band try that? I think my IQ is still higher then
that.
You do know there only so many IQ points to go around... just look at all the wife beater shirts on COPS. I'm sure I gave some of mine away when I traded my CJ in for a hardbody.....but over the years and 200,000+ miles, the repair bills saved me enough money to buy a few of them back.

Just kidding...welcome! Lets get that HB out west!
