Yep you pretty much have it.

The rear you can do springs or shackles.

Thats pretty much it if you have torsin bars, but dont pathfinders have coils in the front? I can't remember

Pathys are Torsion in front, coils in back. HB's have leaf springs out back.

You should figure on 1 - 1.5" lift for a pml. Any more than that and you won't be able to align it with the stock control arms. At least, that's the case with a Frontier/Xterra, I'm not sure if it's the same with the pathys which use shims rather than cam bolts for alignment.

inch to inch and a half :( kinda was hoping for 2-3 in
i guess thats why its a PML does not look like its
worth the trouble for 1-1.5....and ill go calimi 3-6 months
any more input would be great...thanks guys...jeff

I don't think I'd recommend the Calmini stuff. My roommate has their UCAs on his Pathy and they've beat the crap out of his shocks. Of course you could cut off some of the UCA to take care of that problem but just wanted to let you know. Also, while the Calmini UCAs are way overbuilt, that's also kind of a problem I have with them. If I was to run Calminis (I have ACs) and was to hit something, the frame would bend or mounts would shear off, before anything would happen to the UCA. Personally, I think my UCA is a little more replaceable than my frame, so I'm running the less-built UCAs. They were cheaper too;)

There are no springs in the front, just torsion bars. The torsion bars you can crank anywhere from stock up to that 3" (more if you run low profile bump stops). The rear end uses replacement coils to match your front end lift.

So, after perusing the AC site, I have found these coils for the rear (http://www.4x4parts.com/public_html/shop/index.php3?page=shop/flypage&product_id=497&category_id=b664319bff0b518b035f0ade35a1b2d2&ps_session=50f452c02856c242395ad2a0cb8a75a7) that cost $100 and will give you 1.5" of lift. This is probably the cheapest you're going to find any lift for your Pathy, because you can still get the front end aligned because you don't have to replace the upper control arms.
Now, if you want to go 3" you can piece together a "kit" of your own with these coils (http://www.4x4parts.com/public_html/shop/index.php3?page=shop/flypage&product_id=154&category_id=b664319bff0b518b035f0ade35a1b2d2&ps_session=50f452c02856c242395ad2a0cb8a75a7) (which will only cost you $30 more than the first coils I linked), these upper control arms (http://www.4x4parts.com/public_html/shop/index.php3?page=shop/flypage&product_id=142&category_id=6b8879c08e52011b730384fe58a884f3&ps_session=50f452c02856c242395ad2a0cb8a75a7) for $205.00, and some longer rear shocks (you shouldn't need new front shocks, as you aren't increasing travel, you're just adjusting your ride height up - less droop with more stuff).
Now, in my mind, I would not bother with the PML if I knew I was going to go with the full 3" down the road because the parts I need to buy for the PML will be replaced when I went for the full on lift. If I didn't have the $$$ I needed for the full 3" lift, I would start buying the components one at a time until I had the "kit" I wanted. But that's just me.

As for your question of the difference between the 1.5" and 3" coils, it's either height or stiffness or a combination of the two. But once again, your lift up front is infinitely adjustable because you are adjusting the torsion bars, not replacing springs.

:hail: WOW impressive but,i agree with you..why spend
350.00 now then spend 750.00 in 6 months....but its a thought
all i would need is ball joints...front shocks...heaver torsion
bars later cool thanks more food for thought
