So, looking at cb's. Found this one...

...and i like the idea of speaker/transmiter in one unit and not a big base unit. Does this have any significant drawbacks vs. say...this one:

with an actual base? I figure that antenna position is most important over everything, but...:o

Antenna and ground are you most important parts. Both those radios are good radios. A lot of guys like the 75 WX ST because the "brains" of it can be hidden under the seat or elsewhere out of the way, with the controls, speaker, mic out in the open in a small package.

the one problem that radio has is that it's output cannot be bumped up like the normal cb's. In other words you won't be cranking more then 5 watts out of it. With a good antennae this is plenty so i wouldn't worry about this.....

I have the 75 wx its nice out of the way and I can take it all out when not in use and only have a plug showing. But like been said you can not bump up the power any.
