Let me start off by saying that my mom does not enjoy offroading.
Going up the first mile of Red Cone was about as far as I could get before she had me turning around because she was being hysterical. So I told her I wouldn't be going to be taking her on any more offroading adventures. I told her about rollins pass/moffat tunnel area and that it has a smooth dirt road to the top (lol). So I took her on a little adventure with my wife to the top. It wasn't too bad, she'd complain about some bumps or me going out of my way to make the xterra tip or put it on a good rock. Anyways we make it as far as Jenny Lake before she demands I turn around. Well heading down past Yankee Doodle lake, there's the north side trail head to Jenny Creek. I said 'hey mom that looks smooth (which it does), lets take it!". So she agreed. quarter mile into the trail we're hitting all sorts of rocks. Needless to say my mom was getting upset. We go over a few minor obsticles and then hit the creek. That's when my mom starts getting hysterical "Robbie what? Into the river? Why? Turn around!" so i scouted the creek out (freezing cold) and I eventually find the trail heading back out of it. We head up a steep embankment and then back down into the creek. Was a nice little drive, hit a few rocks but nothing serious. We bust out and is literally wanting to get out and kiss the ground. Then we hit a 30ft stretch of the trail that is watered in. Looked kind of like a giant mudbog. Anyways I see an obvious bypass (pussies) which my mom was begging me to go on. I took a few depth observations of the bog and decided to just raise hell and go through it. The water/mud was like 9" deep in the worst spot, nothing too crazy. So we go through it, my mom's covering her eyes, my wife laughing. *BOOM*CLING*KNOCK*BANG* lol hit a giant log and a few rocks going through that one. After that it wasn't bad til we hit the last turn through the creek bed. I didn't have a reliable spotter (thanks mom/wife) and didn't wanna risk anything so I went around the big rock obstacle through a series of 11 point turns only to mount myself on a huge tree stump in the middle (fun). Eventually I got through, barely missing another incident of body damage to a tree. After coming out of that fun house my mom was definitely a changed person. "Robbie next time you say it's just a "dirt road" with "little bumps' I'll just stay at home". In my defense I had no prior knowledge of Jenny Creek. It was just a detour, a shortcut! (((PICTURES COMINGG TONIGHT OR TOMORROW)))

Great write up
![]() Sounds a lot like my wife. Always asking: "You're not going over those rocks, are you?" To which I say: "Yep. Do you wanna get out and walk?"
