I would love to help kev, but I can't commit to anything right now. As painful as it is to say, Moab at this time is iffy, I'll know more about that in a week or two.

Anything at the end of the summer will be questionable until after I graduate.

Where was that pic taken? I want to go there. Now. lol. So awesome. I imagine it's quite the hike.

I'm likely too short on vacation this year to make it, but I would be happy to provide trail, lodging, and restaurant consulting. We've gone there every summer for the past 8 years so we are pretty familiar with the area.

We tend to go towards the end of July when the wildflowers are best. However, depending on the snow year trail opening times can be iffy. This year we went at the very end of July and Imogene and Black Bear had just been opened, and Poughkeepsie wasn't open yet.

Can't wait, Black Bear here we come, (Can't tell wife that I'm doing Black Bear) Oh, by the way I think you're X will do about 90% of the trails around Ouray and Teleuride. As long you have some protection(like rock sliders and skid plates) Black bears is the only one that I don't know about. Keven would have a better idea of that trail. If anything, you could ride with one of us or just meet us at Teleuride and do Imogene Pass on the way back to Ouray. That trail is awesome.

I've taken my 2000X with 1" PML, 31" tires and rocksliders/skid plates on every one of the trails in that area, including Poughkeepsie gulch. My wife and I have even driven all of them (except Poughkeepsie) alone (there is always a fair amount of traffic on most of the trails). Poughkeepsie is the only one I might be a bit leary of taking a stock X on, it took me multiple tries with good spotting to get up the wall on both occasions I ran the trail, and I've heard some years it has been in a lot worse shape than when I've run it.

Black bear is an interesting trail. Most of it isn't that technical, though it was in terrible shape last year when we ran it a few days after it first opened. Though I've run it alone a half dozen times or so, I would recommend a spotter for the first few switch backs. I never considered that trail all that dangerous until I almost killed my wife and I last year. The first swith back is really tight (multi-point turn). I pulled forward around it for the first part of the turn, and thought I had adequate margin. I heard the sound of rock/dirt falling and looked out my drivers window to see the road was disentegrating from underneath my front left tire, and that was the rock falling noise. I jammed it into reverse in a really big hurry and backed up before it completely caved in. So, even if you are fairly experienced and think you are being careful, you can still screw up.
